Jobs to do in March

  1. Mow the lawn on dry days (if needed)

  2. Lift and divide overgrown clumps of perennials and spring bulbs.

  3. Hoe and mulch weeds to keep them under control

  4. Prune bush and climbing roses

  5. plant sweet peas for their beautiful scent.

  6. Plant shallots, onion sets and early potatoes.

  7. Cut back Cornus (dogwood) and Salix (willow) grown for colourful winter stems.

  8. Deadhead daffodils to help put the energy into the bulb and not the seed.

  9. Trim heathers after flowering to keep tidy and tight.

  10. Protect new spring shoots from slugs.
