Jobs to do in May



  1. Deadhead tulips

  2. Support borders before they grow too tall

  3. Start to climatise tender plants before planting out, but watch out for late frosts.

  4. Mow weekly and edge the lawn.

  5. Earth up potatoes, and promptly plant any still remaining

  6. Plant out summer bedding at the end of the month (except in cold areas)

  7. Water early and late to get the most out of your water, recycle water when possible

  8. Open greenhouse vents and doors on warm days

  9. Try no-mow through May and see if the wildflowers pop up.

  10. Check for nesting birds before clipping hedges
